What is DutchExam?

What’s the difference between A2 and B1?

Do I get a certificate from DutchExam?

What happens when my Pro access ends?

Your account stays active and you keep access to Free features. Your test history and progress data are preserved, so you can pick up where you left off if you renew.

How do the AI Writing and Speaking assistants work?

Writing: you submit a response to an exam-style prompt. The AI gives feedback on grammar, sentence structure, vocabulary, and task completion. You can revise and resubmit. Speaking: you record a response using your device microphone. The AI transcribes your speech and gives feedback on pronunciation, fluency, grammar, and content. Both are practice tools. Feedback is approximate and does not replicate DUO’s official scoring.

How does the Fill the Gaps AI Assistant work?

The Fill the Gaps assistant generates short Dutch passages with several missing words at A2 or B1 level — the same invuloefeningen format DUO uses for Reading. You type or pick the word that fits each blank, and the AI explains why each answer is right or wrong, pointing out the grammar or vocabulary cue in the passage. It's a practice tool: feedback is approximate and does not replicate official DUO scoring.

How does the Reading AI Assistant work?

The Reading assistant generates exam-style Dutch passages at your level, followed by comprehension questions about details, main idea, and inference — the same leesvaardigheid format DUO uses. You answer the questions and the AI explains why each answer is right or wrong by pointing back to the passage. It's a practice tool: feedback is approximate and does not replicate official DUO scoring.

How accurate is the AI feedback?

AI feedback is reliable for identifying issues in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and structure, and is a strong practice tool. It is not a substitute for official DUO evaluation. Use it alongside other preparation methods.

What happens to my writing and voice recordings?

Accepted Answer

Your submissions are processed through OpenAI’s API to generate feedback. Voice recordings are transcribed and discarded after processing — we do not store audio files long-term. Your written submissions and AI feedback are saved to your account so you can track progress. You can delete your data at any time from account settings. Full details are in our Privacy Policy.

What payment methods do you accept?

iDEAL, SEPA Direct Debit, PayPal, and major credit and debit cards. Payments are processed securely through Mollie.

Can I get a refund?

Yes, within limits set by EU consumer law: Before using the AI assistants: you can request a full refund within 14 days of purchase by contacting support. After using the AI assistants: by starting an AI Writing or Speaking session, you waive your 14-day withdrawal right, because the digital service has been delivered. This is standard for AI-based digital services in the EU. Technical issues or billing errors: always refundable — contact support.

Can I use DutchExam on any device?

Yes. It works on desktops, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Speaking practice requires a device with a microphone.

How is my progress tracked?

Pro users get detailed progress tracking across sections with weak-area identification. Free users see basic scores after each test. Your dashboard shows your activity and full test history.
